Could it be that the reason for the world is to make us long for home?
God
is good, but life is hard. Rest in the hands that hold the world... Remember you are never alone. Jesus is no stranger to our pain: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:33).
Just look at the news. It
really makes you wonder, and pray for so many lost, angry people.
I
know there are a lot of times when I look up to the skies and say,
“Thank you God that this is not our home.” There are no words sometimes
for tragedies. Just listening, and being that long hug that cares, may
be all they need for the moment.
So many questions... in my heart, the only answer is to, “fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen...” (2 Corinthians 4:18).
Just
watching the news can wear you down. Hearing friends, and families that
are going through so much, and they have just become so tired, and have
so little hope. “Though outwardly we are wasting away yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16). Boy if that isn’t hope! When this world wears us down, Jesus is our only
lifeline.
No one likes painful situations,
but it is going to happen. We can’t escape it, so we might as well let
God use it. It gives God the opportunity to show His power in us, and
for us to show our faith and hope in Him.
2 Corinthians 4: 18,
“for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” Now
that’s even more hope! Our ultimate hope when we are experiencing pain,
heartache, a terrible illness, is this life is not all there is. There
is life after death. Knowing we will live forever with God, in a place
with no more pain or suffering, can help us live above what we are
facing.
1Corinthians 2: 9,
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived, what God has
prepared for those who love Him.” Even more hope! So we have to keep our eyes on heaven. Never lose sight of
Jesus, and you’ll never lose sight of home, for, "[His] house has many rooms..." (John 14: 2).
“There
is beauty that awaits beyond this world.
When you look into the eyes of
grace, and hear the voice of mercy say,
'Child welcome to the reason
for the world.'"
Grace and peace to you
Kim
