A Fathers Song... Matt Redman

Beautiful song!!!
Meditate on the cross, and what it means to you. Then, if this song doesn’t melt your heart while meditating, check your pulse.

I hope that when we listen to this song, and watch the video, we focus on the cost of our sins, and what it took to be set free. We are only made right by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” Romans 5: 8.

Our God has done so much for us. Knowing the truth of God’s word, and knowing what it cost, it brings me to such a deep hearted sorrow. I cannot make excuses for my sin, or blame someone else for my actions. If God’s word says what we have done is sinful and wrong, then there is no excuse for it. Until we can admit, “I’ve wronged You God. It’s no one else’s fault but my own”  then, we cannot begin to be sorry for what we have done, and our sorrow is not real. We need to recognize the cost of sin. If we could just train our eyes to focus on the blood stained cross , shouldn’t there be a deep sorrow that we would never want to make an excuse for the cause of Jesus suffering so? (John 15: 22-----John 9: 41)

Take what we think is right and fun in our minds, to the foot of the cross and see it in a new light. If we don’t see it as God sees it, then we cannot be filled with the regret that we should have. That we, our sins, our rebellion, cost God His only Son.
I can’t even fathom how God feels watching His creation making excuses for a self-centered way of living. If you are a parent, you may understand just a smidgen of what God feels.

Godly sorrow can only come about in the deepest levels of the heart, when we try to understand what it means to God and the cost for our eternity. Worldly sorrow makes excuses, or blames everyone else. It can also repeat the same sin over and over with no regrets.

2 Corinthians 7: 8-10   “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation”….

After we have counted our blessings, and see just how good the Lord has been, see if you can tell yourself that your past sins, or what you are doing now isn’t so bad.

Thank You Father for your perfect melody. You’ve written in Love, You’ve written in in grace, and eternity is written on my heart. THANK YOU JESUS!!
