These lyrics are so much more than just words coming from my mouth. Once the words become a genuine request to God, it then becomes a hearts outcry to my Savior. My soul continuously being changed, growing to desire more of Him, and less of me.
Not easy lyrics to say, because surrendering every part of what I think is ok with me, God continually shows me where His work in me is never over this side of heaven. All He wants is my willing Spirit. I mean, it's Him in me anyway, so He knows the best of me.
I don't know what your personal issues may be. But if it's something that you wouldn't do or say if Jesus was right next to you, and you are still doing it anyway, then you probably need to surrender it.
Oh the true joy that is found in this surrender. His UNFAILING grace just pours more and more into my life. I mean it was always there, but my obedience by faith accesses this wonderful grace. Romans 5: 2, "through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God."
Faith in just trusting your Heavenly Father loves and cares for you more than you will ever be able to comprehend. Proverbs 3: 5, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;"... He is always with you.
We live in a sinful world, so even bad things will happen in our lives. Jesus didn't hide that from us. John 16: 33, "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” .....I would rather go through bad times with Him, than without Him. He knows everything from the beginning of my life, till I take my last breath. What can be more comforting than the thought of, when I close my eyes here. I open them there. John 14: 3, "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."
I'm not sure what you put your hope in, but I think I'll rest in that.
