Sometimes we wait till it’s too late to ask God, “is this the one you have for me?” Did you let God choose your spouse, or did you want, what you chose?
Read 1 Corinthians 7:15-16.. Let God speak to your heart personally. If you became a Christian after you married your husband, wife, what is God doing through you.
Sometimes the valley of the shadow in your own marriage can be the loneliest, and hardest place to be. There are days you just feel like giving in, because it’s more than you can bear. That empty feeling inside, questions of why is this person so impossible, and how long do I have to put up with this? I don’t know where God is leading you, but I do know He will comfort you, and lead you.
1 Corinthians 13:8 “Love never fails” God’s love never fails. It’s His love through you, that keeps giving. Only he can create this amazing love, and strength in you. Just to see how much love and patience God has for the one he is trying to get to through me, amazes me, and depending how I handle it, glorifies Him.
Genesis 18:19 “I have chosen him”… God chooses people he can depend upon. (Not a doormat) You really need to let God personally speak to you in this area, and or, seek Christian counseling. Don’t listen to too many voices, and DON’T run ahead of God. He looks for people that he can place the weight of His love, power, and faithful promises. God knows you can withstand what He allowed to come to you. Our strength is through God to endure it.
Anything, and everything, that happens in our lives, comes to us by His will, or permission.
2 Corinthians 12:8-10 The bible doesn’t say what Paul’s thorn was, but it does say that three times he pleaded with the Lord to take it away from him. Jesus said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
What is your thorn in life? What image of Christ is God perfecting in you? Of all the fruits of the spirit, love is the first,Galatians 5:22. In 1 Corinthians 13:13 “But the greatest of these is love.”
I know for me personally, this is the hardest, but most important image of Christ, God is developing in me. So even though many of my days can be lonely in my marriage, and I want to ask God to remove this thorn, I’m thankful for what He is teaching me. I hold tight to the hand of Him who’s love always comforts me. He never said it would be easy, but he said He’ll see me through the storm.
Grace and peace to you
Kim
