First I want to thank the pastor of our church,
the Sunday school teachers of all ages, and our teachers of education.
Thank you!!!
Well
the first day of school was Monday for many children. Today my nephew
started kindergarten, and has to ride the bus to and from school. My
niece is so nervous. You know times are so different today than they
were when I went to school, or even when my kids went to school. I
worried about my kids too, but it wasn’t as bad as it is now, and what
the parents have to worry about. My niece said, “Kid’s are just so mean
today, and when they fight, they don’t just use their hands anymore,
they have knives, and guns.” Sad to agree, but she is so right. Times
continue to change with every generation. We need to seek God for
guidance of parenting, and what we sew into our kids life.
I
remember going out to dinner with my kids, and grandson. He was really
acting up at the table, and my daughter corrected him, and spanked his
hand. With no crying, and about 3 minutes later, he looked at his mom
and said, “I’m sorry mommy.” I couldn’t believe it. He thought about it,
and knew he was wrong, even at 2 and a half years old. I prayed right
there when I saw that. I prayed that quality of his character will
continue to grow. I believe it will because he is being taught Godly
principles from his parents, and Sunday school.
All
we have is our hope and trust in the Lords protection. We need to be in
CONSTANT prayer for the kids today, and our teachers.
Sad
also to say, that some parents today just drop their kids off at
church, and Sunday school, to leave the teaching up to others. This is
not God’s way. Our children are a gift, and God desires for us to teach
Godly principles to them ourselves at home. He shows us how serious He is about this in His word…Deuteronomy 6: 6-9 - Proverbs 29: 15-17… Disciplining our children, is showing them we love them. Just as God loves us and disciplines us, because He loves us. Hebrews 12:5-6.
When
we are young, and even in our teen years, we don’t see it as love and
protection, but it is. I know when I became a parent, I saw things
through different eyes, and thanked my parents for all they did. Now
that both my girls are grown, one being a mom herself, they thank me too
now. Our kids have enough friends. What they need is parents. Even if
the home is split up, the parenting should be as God intended. We need
to take this serious, because God does.
Grace and peace to you
Kim
